new associate principal for the shoreline studio guilford announced

葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 is thrilled to announce the appointment of elizabeth mcmillan as our new associate principal for the shoreline studio guilford.

mcmillan began her ballet training at the age of nine with the alabama dance theater in  montgomery. as a scholarship student she attended summer workshops with the joffrey ballet in  new york, houston ballet, and ballet magnificat in jackson, miss.

at the age of thirteen, she was accepted into  houston ballet’s ben stevenson academy in the  pre-professional division and later was accepted at houston’s high school for the performing  and visual arts. after two years mcmillan was promoted to the professional division of the  stevenson academy and placed on a full merit scholarship.

in 2000, she joined ballet magnificat, touring nationally and internationally with the main company for seven years. in 2006, she accepted a position as adjunct professor of dance at belhaven university; two years later she was promoted to the full-time faculty position of specialty instructor of dance. most recently betsy served on the faculty of the ben stevenson academy and the high school for the performing and visual arts, and as ballet mistress for both houston metropolitan dance company and ad deum dance company in houston.

mcmillan joins 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 for the 2011-2012 school year with her husband, william, as he settles into new haven for his phd in sociology at yale.

new artistic director for 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔

dear 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 community,
it is with great excitement that the 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 board of directors
announces the appointment of mr. jared redick as our new artistic director.

carefully selected from a deep and talented applicant pool and through unanimous vote
of the board of directors, mr. redick comes to 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 after a distinguished
career at boston ballet, suzanne farrell ballet, miami city ballet, and san francisco
ballet. an accomplished dance teacher and administrator, mr. redick most recently
served as the principal of boston ballet’s school’s norwell studio. while in
massachusetts, mr. redick and his lovely wife, shannon parsley, currently ballet
mistress at boston ballet, had the opportunity to work with noble barker, new haven
ballet’s founder and with ruth barker, 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 ’s office manager and ballet
mistress, winning their respect and support.
mr. redick’s early training was at the conservatory ballet, university of north carolina
school of the arts, american ballet theatre’s school of classical ballet with mikhail
baryshnikov and later at the school of american ballet. in the course of his professional
life, he has worked with ballet luminaries such as edward villella, suzanne farrell, and
most recently, with mikko nissinen, boston ballet’s artistic director. mr. redick is the
consummate professional and will enrich our dancers with his outstanding teaching skills
and rich professional experience.
葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 stands poised to embark upon a great new adventure. electricity is in
the air at both the audubon street complex and guilford studio as we await the start of a
new chapter. mr. redick will begin his tenure at 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 in january 2011 and
looks forward to meeting all of the student, parents, and friends of 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 . he
is eager to continue to integrate 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 into the vibrant arts community in
new haven. we hand the reins to mr. redick with record enrollment at new haven
ballet and know he will lead 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 to new heights. the board of directors
will be working with mr. redick to review and update the long range strategic plan for
the ballet.
the board of directors takes this opportunity to thank the search committee members,
co-chaired by susan gobel and lisa freed, for their time and great dedication. the board
of directors extends special appreciation to diana harris, ruth barker, laura d’amato,
suzanne stack and caroline lucy smith for keeping 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 healthy and
happy during this recent period of transition.
as dancers await their cue in the wings with the music and the rustle of tulle wafting
through the air, 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 stands ready to leap into a new era with enthusiasm
and optimism. 葡萄牙vs乌拉圭欧赔 , strong since the day noble founded it, anticipates that
it best days still lie ahead.
